What does hail damage on a roof look like?
Hail damage is often invisible from the ground. On an asphalt shingle it shows up as a soft bruise where the granules have been knocked away, exposing the mat underneath. Most Front Range roof replacements run through an insurance claim. Here is the honest version of how it goes, and where a roofing contractor is allowed to help.
We inspect and document
We get on the roof, mark every strike, and photograph it. You get those photos whether or not you file, and whether or not you hire us.
You file the claim
The claim is yours to file — it is your policy and your carrier. We hand you the documentation that makes the call easier.
We meet the adjuster
Once you have a signed contract with us we can walk the roof with your adjuster and discuss the scope of repairs. We do not negotiate coverage — Colorado law reserves that for licensed adjusters, and we follow it.
We build the roof

One thing worth knowing
In Colorado a roofing contractor cannot legally pay, waive or rebate your insurance deductible, and you have 72 hours to rescind a storm-related roofing contract. How much does a roof replacement cost in the Denver metro?
Most Front Range asphalt shingle replacements land between roughly $9,000 and $25,000, driven by roof size, pitch, number of stories, shingle line, and how much decking has to be replaced once the old roof is off. If a hail claim is involved, your out-of-pocket cost is usually your deductible rather than the full price. Any number quoted without a measured roof is a guess.
Do I need a new roof after hail, or just a repair?
It depends on how many strikes per square the roof has and whether the mat is exposed. A handful of hits on one slope is often a repair. Widespread bruising across multiple slopes usually means replacement, because the shingles have lost the granule layer that protects them from UV. An inspection with photographs is the only honest way to tell, and ours is free.
Will filing a hail claim raise my insurance premium?
Hail is generally treated as a weather event rather than something you caused, so a single claim is handled differently from an at-fault claim. That said, rates across Colorado have risen broadly because of storm frequency, and every carrier is different. Your agent is the right person to answer this for your specific policy — we are roofers, not insurance advisers.
How long does a roof replacement take?
Most single-family homes in the Denver metro are torn off and re-roofed in one to two days, weather permitting. Permitting and material delivery beforehand typically add one to three weeks depending on the jurisdiction and time of year. After a major hail event, expect longer on both.
Should I use a roofer who knocks on my door after a storm?
Not without checking them out first. Our owner Ken Green was interviewed by FOX21 News specifically about post-storm roofing scams in Colorado. Before signing anything, confirm the company has a Colorado address you can visit, ask how long they have worked in your county, and check that the contract carries the disclosures Colorado law requires. And remember no contractor may legally pay or waive your deductible.
